One Slip Changes Everything
I am
standing on a Hawk Missile Launcher. I have been ordered to
perform cleaning and maintenance on the launcher. My foot slips
on some spilled hydraulic fluid. My body and my legs are
twisting at odd angles and I struggle to maintain my balance. I
feel shearing of tissue in both knees. The pain is almost
intolerable. I fall from the missile launcher landing directly
on my knees and then I am slammed heavily on my side. An
explosion of pain radiates throughout my ribcage and blinding
white light illuminates the interior of my head….
