Honorable Discharge For Medical Reasons
With the week I
was handed my discharge papers and my commanding officer made a
big show with gathering the troops together giving a big speech
about wishing me luck. A few of troops were snickering at his
disingenuous words. Everyone knew that he was a backbiting suck
up and that he had talked a lot of trash behind my back. He
handed me some of my final discharge papers and he offered to
shake my hand while he said “Good luck Chimera.”
I looked at his hand
and back up at him, -- Refusing to shake his hand. I simply
said, “Sir you disgust me”. I just walked off gather my gear and
left the base. Within two weeks I left the area and moved back
to Pennsylvania.
The entire time I was
hurt and my superiors had mislead me, targeted me and push me
out of the Marine Corp nest I resented being forced out of an
organization that I wanted desperately to belong to. I felt
betrayed by a handful of men who I felt were not half the Marine
as I saw my self being able to develop into. Being pushed out
felt as painful as when my cousin tried to force me out of his
tent, and like then during my few months in the service I wanted
to strike back and bring down their tent.
