I want to take this last opportunity to apologies to any and all Marines past or present who may have taken offense from the story in this book and especially the views I have shared in: Why I felt compelled to Write This Book!  

      My intention was not to demean or minimize the intentions, patriotism, toughness or the accomplishments of many of the fine men and women that serve in the U.S. Marine Corp.

      My intention was not to imply that all Marines that make it through boot camp or serve in the Corp only do so because they are bullied or force. 

      I do not imply that all Marines do not have the same stuff within them that Navy Seals possess or lack the ability to constantly motivate themselves to take on greater challenges and to accomplish more on their own.

      I am not implying that all Marines are not free thinking and do not know how to navigate through the Corp as sovereign beings – bringing all of their talents to the forefront.

      What I am saying is that, the bureaucracy of the Marine Corp often forego a golden opportunity to allow many Marines to become “All that they can be.”

      There are many men and women who join the Marine Corp who come into the Green Machine unformed, and without internal drives that I have mentioned and these many thirst for more instruction to constantly grow.  

      These many young people could be taught to develop the mechanisms that could make them the stuff of Navy Seals or other individuals that operate in the real world that possess these attributes. Such as the captains of industry, et cetera, instead of simply being warehoused until needed like a windup solider.

      I have seen examples of the warehousing in some platoons or squadrons. I have also seen the other extreme where the leaders of specific squadrons or platoons take it upon themselves to encourage the constant growth of the soldier in their charge in every manner.

      These stellar leaders encourage a broader and deeper range of military skills to be learned and in addition they constantly challenge their soldiers to grow academically, and socially as well. These rare leaders instill in the young troops in their care the tools required for all sovereign beings to make in this world with the same determination and style that Navy Seals are so famous for.

      I felt it was my duty to mention this, because I am the type of person that despises half-assed, half-hearted attempts or approaches to anything, regardless if it is a marriage, a love relationship, a friendship, business, working out… simply anything that requires effort should be done mindfully with one’s full attention and effort.

      The Marines Corp and Marines should be no different.
