TO: The U. S. House of Representatives &
U.S. Senate C/O Congressman Peter DeFazio of United
States of America
This is a petition for those people who are
interested in contacting our legislators & our Union
Representatives who would like to express their desire to see
that the Postal Service does not become privatize whether it be
partial or as an entire entity.
The Postal service provides the best mail
delivery service in the world, for the best rates. This agency
has the potential resources to keep with these standards even if
the agency pays equal wages to the temporary helpers.
It is the opinion of many union social &
economic pundits that the Postal Service if it desires can
continue with this trend providing that they cut back their
expenses by avoiding perpetuating an environment that leads to
unnecessary lawsuits, grievances, E.E.O. Complaints,
arbitrations.
The Postal Service can also cut back on
unnecessary expenses by providing an environment that would
encourage reasonable accommodations instead of forcing their
employees to file workman compensation claims or medical
disability.
In addition since the Postal Service has
more people in management per person compared to any corporation
they could better utilize these supervisors by allowing to work
along side of the craft employees as United Parcel Service
requires their supervisors to work with their crew. The Union
must allow for this.
With the added technology that the Postal
Service has acquired the Postal Service could easily keep up
with the competition that pays their employees a fair & living
wage.
Paying equal wages to the temporary
employees that the permanent employees now enjoy & maintaining
these current wages is the most patriotic & long-sighted
approach that the Postal Service can take. This approach would
insure that many needed & necessary jobs are created, & these
jobs at these wages will increase revenue that can be paid to
the Internal Revenue Service.
In addition these will increase more people
in each community to have more purchasing power & be better
prepared to provide for their families.
