 TO: The U. S. House of Representatives & U.S. Senate C/O Congressman Peter DeFazio of United States of America

This is a petition for those people who are interested in contacting our legislators and Union Representatives who would like to express their desire to see that our legislators strengthen laws that would require the all government agencies, even Government agencies and all businesses in the private sector to allow and provide reasonable accommodation to people in the workforce who suffer from illnesses or any impairment of any necessary life function.

The medical community recognizes the necessary life functions that are critical for life and for independent living as anything that affects walking, seeing, hearing, thinking, and breathing.

The current trend of our legal system is that if a person has an impairment of a necessary life function and if any such person is able to deal with their impairments so that they can operate at par with workers that do not have impairments by the use of medicines, prosthetics, medical devices, wheelchairs, glasses, et cetera, these same people are not protected by the law if their employers discriminates against them because of their impairments.

The current trend in the law has diminished protection of people with impairments in the event that their employer will not allow these workers to use their doctor prescribed medication, prosthetics, medical devices, wheelchairs, glasses, et cetera.

According to one of our United States Justices there is the trend to assert that as long as a person can wash their face, comb their hair, and brush their teeth, then they are not to be considered disabled enough to deserve legal recourse or protection by our courts in the event that a person is discriminated against by their employer or disallowed the reasonable accommodations that would enable these workers to work on an even playing field.

This petition or letter of interest is to assert our rights as citizens and employees to seek a better resolution that would demand that all employers in both the public or government sector and employers in the private sector allow their employees the right to be reasonably accommodated especially if the employee is willing to incur all cost and legal liability themselves.

This petition or letter of interest is to assert our rights as citizens and employees and to assert that since we have an aging population, and since our government is looking to increase the age that people are able to retirement then it is imperative that reasonable accommodation become a indisputable right for an aging population that will experience a impairment of one or all of their necessary life functions that is often common within the average aging population.

This petition or letter of interest is to assert our rights as citizens and employees that since the reality of aging and diminished ability is a reality, the increased need for reasonable accommodation is obvious, in light of the fact that anything less would put aging workers at risk of being kick out by employers by the various techniques and using the various loopholes in the legal system. The current trend would leave aging or injured employees at risk of financial and familial ruin.

This petition or letter of interest is to assert our rights as citizens and employees to be allowed reasonable accommodation at least at their own expenses and liability first and in the event that there is no type of reasonable accommodation that can resolve a worker’s injury and/or impairment whether this impairment is due to factors such as congenital, environmental, accidental, or aging or a combination of any of these factors then and only then should the employee look towards Workman Compensation or medical disability be it social security disability or medical disability provided by their employer.
