The Rational Philosophy of Ayn Rand's Objectivism

I love the philosophy of Ayn Rand!

I do not agree with everything she says, or more accurately, I do not agree entirely with every thing she believes.

Let me give you an example. She worships the rational mind and detests religion, mystics spiritualism or wishful thinking.

In her view, man's best and perhaps only weapon or took is his analytical and rational mind. She does not trust people who rely on feelings and premises that can not be quantified, measured, proved or in most cases even demonstrated to any satisfactory degree.

She also believes in free market without any government intervention and she believes that at the heart of everything, people must hold themselves accountable for all of their victories and failures.

She detest people who rather put the blame of their failures and misfortunes on everything or everyone but where it really belongs and that is with the said individual.

Most people bridle at the fact that she does not believe in regulation and they like to believe that almost all of our country's financial woes are due to the machinations of the rich.

Most Ayn Rand foes are not aware that she was against what all of the dishonest corporations and lobbyist have done to us. She was against governments involving itself in private business whether it is to help companies or to hinder.

The sad and actual fact is we as individuals are responsible just as much for the financial chaos as the people who proffered sub prime loans.

Most people would groan and shake their fist at me in anger and disbelief.

I will address this subject at a later date, but for now, I will address what major disagreement I have with Ayn Rand.

1. I am not entirely convinced that some sort of minor regulations needs to be put in place of our economy. (I need to sort through this before I can agree or disagree)

2. I have a slight disagreement with her on the value of mystical experiences.

I believe that the rational mind should hold dominion over the mystical part of our mind.

I believe that once we have taken care of all the nuts and bolts and followed the rational blueprints that we need to use to insure we become high functioning physically, mentally, emotionally, fiscally, socially and politically, then we can certainly attend to the experimentation of mystical experiences.

I believe that we do have mystical potentialities and that these potentials can affect are real life needs in a positive way. For instance, I would argue that mystical events can open new synapses and organizational fields of awareness and help to make us more energized and enhanced.

I address this phenomena more extensively throughout my writings and you are welcome to explore these possibilities if you like.

Sincerely,

Vincent D. Faini
